Take time to learn about this great region of Ozarks and it's vast history. Each County has a great museum and the Willmore Lodge can catch you up on the history of this amazing Lake. Don't forget to stop and visit the National Shrine of Mary and the Orion Science Center. There's just so much to do, see and learn!
A magnificent Shrine dedicated to Mary, Mother of the Church features an awe inspiring fourteen foot stainless steel sculpture of Mary, which stands in a natural amphitheatre surrounded by beautiful fountains. The Mothers’ Wall of Life has become a great attraction of the Shrine, with the names of mothers from around the world engraved in the polished black granite. The Mothers’ Wall of Life continues to grow daily and is an everlasting tribute to all mothers.

The Camden County Museum in Linn creek is housed in what was once the Linn Creek School located on V Road just off US Hwy 54. Classroms are devoted to specific themes and other exhibits include antiques, tools, banking equipment, and a room featuring facilities from former schools, doctors, dentists and churches in the area.

This historic log building was completed in 1930 by the Union Electric Company, (now AmerenUE). It served as an administrative and entertainment center for the mammoth Bagnell Dam construction project, an endeavor of such magnitude that it destroyed or displaced five towns, created a man-made lake with a shoreline rivaling Lake Michigan`s in length, and created a new tourism economy in central Missouri that thrives to this day. The building is now refurbished and serving the Lake area and its visitors as a museum, cultural activities center.

Orion Center`s DinoSpace Adventure is a unique combination of science center and theme park with serious exhibits for adults and fun activities for kids. It showcases hands-on science activities, intriguing exhibits, good science and family fun. Morgan County Museum
Built in 1877, the landmark Martin Hotel is home to the Morgan County Historical Museum. Its 28 rooms are packed with so many antiques, artifacts, oddities and Martin family memorabilia, it would take a full day to see the amazing collection. |
